Endure the pains of your pruning - it stimulates new growth!

In John 15: 1-2 Jesus says, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."

As you read the passage you will realize that we are the branches. I do not think pruning is something each branch looks forward to. It must be a painful exercise. However, each branch endures the pain and the results are awesome if the pruning has been well done. Our Father is a faultless gardener and therefore the results will always be awesome if we endure the pain of pruning.

The challenges, pains, difficulties, suffering etc. we go through are part of the pruning process. The reason we are being pruned is because God knows that we are fruitful branches. If that was not the case he would simply cut us off. Because we have chose to abide in the true vine, he is taking care of us.

Pruning is an important exercise. Experts will tell you that pruning stimulates new growth, controls the tree size, and improves the size and quality of the fruit. As you go through challenges know that you are experiencing a new spiritual growth. Know that God is in control of your growth and how big you become. Most importantly, the pruning determines the greatness and quality of the fruits you bear.

In whatever circumstances you are going through, just hold on to Jesus. He says, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples," (John 15:7-8).
